DialAmerica Protects Critical Server With BioconX Software; Telemarketing Firm Deploys Biometrics With BioconX Network Security Software
MINNEAPOLIS, July 5, 2002, PRNewswire -- BioconX, Inc., a developer of network
security software that applies biometrics to fortify network and application
security, announces that DialAmerica Marketing, Inc., the largest privately
held telemarketing firm in the U.S., has installed BioconX software to
safeguard access to the Microsoft(R) Windows NT server it uses to process
credit card authorizations.
"Consumers and financial institutions demand strong security to protect
credit card information," says Anthony Alfieri, communications network manager
of DialAmerica. "With BioconX software, we replaced passwords with secure
biometric sign-on to ensure that only authorized users can access the server
on which we process credit card authorizations.
"We selected BioconX because they develop advanced network security
software," says Alfieri. "Setting up BioconX software was simple and
straightforward, and our users find biometric sign-on to be easier and more
convenient than remembering and entering passwords."
BioconX software authenticates the identity of users with one-to-many
search of centrally stored biometric templates. It instantly allows users to
access all servers, and launch any application, for which they have
authorization with one single, simple, and secure biometric sign-on. BioconX
supports leading biometric technologies and devices and works with all major
operating systems. It applies biometric security all the way from the network
level to applications themselves, without requiring any modification of
application code. Wizards in BioconX software guide IT professionals
step-by-step through the process of creating users and application groups.
DialAmerica has deployed BioconX software with Sony FIU-710 fingerprint
identification units, credit card-size biometric devices. The Sony FIU-710
device is an external peripheral that weighs 37 grams, measures 85.6 x 54 x
9.5 mm, is USB-powered, and connects to computers via a USB port.
